Two decades ago Neighbourhood Watch and Neighbourhood Support were established in many communities in New Zealand. Two things seemed to be missing from these organisations - Prayer and Love.
A new opportunity has presented itself based on the following concept. What if the 'do gooders' teamed up and really began doing good? What if the Christians on your street knew each other, got together and began to pray for the other neighbours on your street?
This simple concept became the theme prayer of over 40 Men of Prayer in Rodney. It also was prototyped on a local street - with incredible results.
A small committee was established and an immediate affiliation was made with 'Love Your Neighbour.' In a few months churches, police representatives, and individuals have become very excited at this simple idea.
It is encouraging today to realise that 'Neighbour Network' is a way of drawing near to God, touching lives and being strengthened by others - right in your own patch.
